Common Yosemite Wilderness Regulations
1. Leave Nothing. Take Nothing, Except Memories.
2. A wilderness permit is required on all overnight trips. It must be in your possession.
3. Maximum group size is 15 people per party, 8 max. for any cross country hiking. Stock use is limited to 25 head.
4. Proper food storage is required by law. Use approved bear proof canisters. Food must not be unattended at anytime. Bear proof food containers rented from Yosemite Trails subject to availability. Report bear damage or sightings to Park Rangers.
5. Camp 100 feet from water or trail. Use existing fire-rings, use only dead and down wood for camp fires. No fires above 9,600 feet
6. Everything packed in, must be packed out. Clean up your campsite and fire-ring.
7. The Park Service recommends all drinking water be purified or boiled for 3 minutes.
8. All human waste should be buried in a small hole, six inches deep, 100 feet from camp, trail or water.
9. No soaps (biodegradable also), dishwashing or fish cleaning in lakes or streams. Do these at least 100 feet from water.
10. No dogs, firearms, fireworks, rafts, float tubes or "boom-boxes".
11. Fishing licenses are required for fisherman over 16 years old.
12. For safety, stock have the right-of-way on trails. Stock should travel in single file.
13. Cutting switchbacks on trails is prohibited.
14. Do not remove any artifacts, rocks, flowers, plants or parts of plants (alive or dead) from Park.
15. Do not feed or disturb the wildlife.
